Liatris ligulistylis-Meadow Blazing Star

Meadow Blazing Star is popular with an array of pollinators but is known in particular for how it attracts Monarch butterflies en masse. It calls to them with tall spires crowded by fluffy magenta flowers that bloom from top to bottom. Its long, slender leaves grow shorter and more sparse as they ascend the height of the plant. Plays host to numerous species of moth and feeds songbirds with its seeds later in the season. May require staking in rich soils.
