Joe Pye Weed draws the eye upwards to the soft sprays of pale pink flower clusters that crown the tops of these robust plants. Its rich green leaves unfurl in tiered whorls along strong stems of a contrasting purplish pink color, providing visual interest even before its long-lasting flowers appear. An ecological powerhouse, this pollinator magnet is especially attractive to butterflies and hosts the caterpillars of several moth species. Its impressive height and spreading habit make it a statement plant that should be used with caution in smaller spaces. Thrives in sunnier, wetter conditions than its cousin, Sweet Joe Pye Weed. Deer resistant
