Purple Coneflower is perhaps the most beloved and widely planted of all Illinois wildflowers, easily recognizable with its prominent, spiky orange-brown centers surrounded by petals that range in color from deep purple to pink. Highly adaptable and hardy, it will thrive in full sun to part shade and in a variety of soil conditions, attracting an array of pollinators. It is used medicinally to boost the immune system and fight inflammation. Excellent as a cut flower.
