Liatris pycnostachya-Prairie Blazing Star

Prairie Blazing Star wows with densely packed spikes of vivid purple flowers that bloom from top to bottom and create a bold, vertical accent in the garden from mid-late summer. The flowers rise from a bed of narrow, grass-like foliage, adding strong visual and textural contrast. This is a true pollinator magnet and a larval host to numerous species of small moths. Older plants tend to stand strong on their own, while plants in their first couple years may require staking to keep them upright through summer storms. Otherwise low-maintenance, tolerates a range of soil conditions, and can withstand occasional drought once established. Beautiful yellow-orange color in the fall.
