Sisyrinchium albidum- Common Blue-eyed Grass

Common Blue-eyed Grass is not actually a grass at all but rather a member of the Iris family, with their stiff, slender, fan-like foliage. In late spring and early summer, thin stalks boast star-shaped, lavender or pale blue flowers that open each morning and close by evening. Native bees and other pollinators are attracted to their bright yellow centers. The plant’s compact growth habit, rarely reaching higher than 6in, makes it perfect for sunny garden edges. It spreads via rhizome to form a clump and can function beautifully as a ground cover in sunny spots.
