Liatris aspera-Rough Blazing Star

Rough Blazing Star is a hardy and striking perennial that brings a unique vertical element to the garden with its tall floral spike, covered in dense clusters of vibrant purple to magenta blooms. From mid-summer through fall these nectar-rich inflorescences attract an array of hummingbirds, bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects that keep the garden buzzing. Its minimal maintenance needs and tolerance for drought makes it a perfect addition to dry, sandy or rocky areas, while its robust, fibrous root system makes it useful for erosion control and soil stabilization. It tolerates some light shade but may flop a bit and require staking. Larval host to numerous moth species. Stunning as a cut flower.
