Eurybia macrophylla- Big-leaved Aster

Big-Leaved Aster gets its name from its dark green basal leaves that are, you guessed it, uniquely large and distinguish it from its aster cousins. The leaves grow smaller further up the plant, which sends up stalks in late summer through fall that bear open clusters of white daisy-like flowers with yellow centers that turn orange or red and then brown after pollination. It attracts a wide variety of insects that relish the late-season bounty of nectar, and its foliage plays host to numerous species of moths and butterflies. Can spread rhizomatically to form a dense ground cover.
